| Details:NDE Level III Technician POSITION PURPOSE: Has the responsibility to develop and evaluate plans and estimates, to organize, execute, and control small and medium size projects from their initial inception through engineering, procurement, planning, implementation, closeout, and project critique. Assesses the practicality and technical adequacy of proposed non-destructive examination tests, products, and equipment when problem solving unique situations. Serves as a technical advisor and provides governance and oversight in regard to Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) applications and program functions. Provides NDE technical interface with regulatory agencies and their personnel as an organizational representative and technical expert. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1.Oversees Site and ISO projects or outages from assignment to closeout. Ensures all phases of project meet safety, technical, budget, schedule and quality requirements. 2.Applies versatile knowledge of NDE principles and implements in multiple discipline methods. 3.Provides NDE knowledge and support to Engineering staff as necessary. 4.Provides overview/critique of staff augmented contractor's procedures and certifications of personnel. 5.Applies independent decision making for resolution of issues/opportunities related to NDE. 6.Demonstrates positive technical representation at conferences and workshops to promote the best interest of the organization. 7.Uses experience based skills in the application of advanced NDE techniques and applies theories to field applications. 8.Performs and reviews NDE activities related to the examination, disposition, repair, replacement or modification of critical structures, systems and components where a specialized knowledge of NDE, failure mechanisms, flaw evaluation and practical corrective measures is required. 9.Determines final acceptability of components prior to their return to service. 10.Performs and provides technical direction of routine and non-routine NDE on systems and components of nuclear and non-nuclear generating plants for the purpose of detecting flaws and degradation. 11.Provides technical direction to subordinates. 12.Develops written procedures in accordance with industry Codes and regulations. 13.Investigates and implements specialized NDE techniques for emergent failure mechanisms. 14.Provides NDE technical expertise to management in regard to evaluation of outside contracted NDE services. 15.Directs the technical efforts of outside examination agencies 16.Writes papers and NDE reports in a professional manner that may be used for distribution to management or vendors. 17.Performs NDE instructor duties in the training, testing and certification process. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education -A High School diploma or equivalent, plus related continuing education. Experience -Must have a minimum of 10 years of nuclear experience with at least 7 years of recent Level III commercial nuclear power plant experience. Must have experience in administering training and certifying NDE personnel. Certification/License, etc - Must be certified or previously certified as Level III in the primary volumetric discipline as dictated by area of responsibility with at least two additional Level III certifications in secondary areas. Must have Appendix VIII qualification per Supplement 2 & 3 as a minimum. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must successfully complete training and acquired certification in additional inspection/examination disciplines or areas, as required by the manager and business operations of the organization. Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable. Must be able and willing to assume "on-call" rotational assignments which may include 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week availability.
